Daisies and Skiing

We have been busy, busy, busy!! Sweetpea started her Daisy troop (to which I am the leader :)). The girls have lots of fun together and they will be caroling next weekend - that should be a hoot! Here is a picture of Sweetpea in her uniform.

Sweetpea also went skiing for the first time. We went with our friends and she had so much fun with her friends Ty and Leah. They played dress up and ran around the condo the whole time! She also did a great job skiing - not once did she give up! The last day she went down the hill 3 times without even falling once. We will definitely have to go skiing again! Here is a short video of her skiing. Unfortunately, my camera decided to die on vacation so I did not get many videos.

Now we are busy getting ready for Christmas! Hoping everyone has a very happy holiday!

Wonderful Big Sister!

Sweetpea has been such a good big sister to her brother! She always makes him smile! I got this cute pic of the two of them the other day!

We have been keeping very busy with school and playing with friends on the weekends. Sweetpea's class won a pajama party tomorrow so she is super excited about getting to wear pjs to school!!
Here is a video of her sliding into a pile of leaves that daddy raked up. She had tons of fun playing in the leaves! Good thing she got that play time in before the snow came. :)

Shining Star

Last weekend Sweetpea went to a theater workshop and learned a song and dance from the show Tarzan. This weekend they were able to perform it at an event called Worldwide Day of Play. Here she is performing. She is the one in the pink shorts - and sorry about the ending of the video but the teacher moved right in front of her so I stopped taping.

Next stop...America's Got Talent

Sweetpea has a real knack for performing. She loves to go around the house singing and dancing. Here is a video of her and dad doing a rock show.

She also has become quite the shopper. We went to Kohl's the other day and she picked out a real cute new outfit - really flashy of course! Here is a picture of her with her new dress. She would not stand up for me, though, so you can't get quite the whole effect.

I think she is headed towards a career in either fashion or the performing arts...time will tell!

First Day of Kindergarten

I can't believe my baby is in Kindergarten! She had her first day on Friday and did a great job! She even rode the bus home - which was scarier for me I am sure. Here is a picture of her on her first day. We made a list of her favorite things. Not sure I agree with mac and cheese as her favorite food but that is what she told me to write.

She got to have a great week before school started because Grandma and Grandpa came up to watch her and little brother while I went back to work. We celebrated my mom's birthday with some pink cake! She also learned a new game: pass the pigs. Here she is playing pass the pigs with grandma and grandpa!

Beach baby

Sweetpea had fun at the beach. She was able to go out and ride the waves without being held which was fun for her, although she really didn't like the taste of the salty ocean or when the water got in her eyes and stung. There was a giant slide on the beach that we got to ride one day. Here's a video of her going down the slide with me (please excuse the fact that it was videotaped sideways).

She really enjoyed spending time with her cousin Nathan, she followed him around the whole time! Here's a picture of all the cousins together - they had a great time!

Branson trip

We just got back from a trip to Branson to visit Papa and Grandma. Sweetpea had a blast! She got to experience fishing for the first time with Papa and she loved it. They caught tons of fish!

Another thing she got to do was go tubing which she also loved. She got bounced up once and we thought she was going to quit tubing but she got back on and kept telling Papa to go faster! She loved swimming in the lake - here is a video of her jumping off the tube!

 Can't wait to go back next year!

St. Louis

We took a trip to St. Louis last weekend. Got to see a Cardinals game! It was lots of fun, but the game was rain delayed a few hours so we didn't get back to the hotel until 1 in the morning (and that was leaving during the 7th inning!). Sweetpea was a real trooper - she stayed awake almost the whole time and did an excellent job listening and staying entertained! Her brother did a great job, too!

The next day we visited the Magic House. Aaron and I hadn't been there in probably about 7 years and we noticed that it was a lot bigger than the last time we had been there! Of course we had to do the static electricity ball - here's Sweetpea with her crazy hair! We had a great time in St. Louis!

Butterflies, Tee Ball, and VBS...oh my!

Sweetpea has been busy!! We grew some butterflies that Grandma Karen had given her. All five caterpillars grew into beautiful butterflies that we let loose last night!

Then this past week Sweetpea had Vacation Bible School, which she loved! They had a program for parents on the last day so her brother and I got to go watch her sing.
Tee Ball has been taking up a lot of time, too, and she really seems to enjoy it. She goes outside to practice with dad almost every night. Here's a video of Sweetpea getting a hit at her first game last weekend.

We have been having a great summer so far!

Running just as fast as you can...

Sweetpea ran in her first race tonight! She ran 1/4 a mile in 2 min. and 48 sec. She said that she had a good time, too, so maybe I have a future marathoner in the making! Here she is running her race.

We have been having lots of fun sleeping in and enjoying summer. Sweetpea got a playset from her grandparents and she has been enjoying the swing - it is really nice that she can just go out into the backyard now whenever she wants to swing. Here is a picture of her waiting patiently while Papa put the slide together.

Daddy also helped quite a bit in the putting together of the playset! Now she just has to have her friends over so they can all enjoy the swings!

Superstar

Sweetpea was in a talent show today at school. They sang a song and it was so cute! Here is a video from the talent show. She is a natural on stage! :)

There are only two days left of school next week before summer vacation and I think Sweetpea is ready for it! She has done so well in Pre-K and I know she will do well in Kindergarten next year. Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend!

Happy 5th Birthday

I'm a little late, but Sweetpea celebrated her 5th birthday in April! We had a great celebration with family and then another fun party with friends. Sweetpea did not want her birthday to end! Then, 5 days after her birthday she got the best gift of all...her baby brother!  Here is a picture of Sweetpea and daddy at her birthday dinner, which of course she wanted to have at Mexican Mexican! :) Here is a video, too, of her friends singing happy birthday!

  

Happy Spring!

It may not feel like spring outside, but we are getting into the spring feeling at home. Sweetpea already got to see the Easter Bunny once - here is a picture of her on his lap. We are going to see the Easter Bunny again this weekend. Then spring break will be here before we know it!
A couple weeks ago Grandma and Grandpa Evans were visiting and the girls all went to a fairy tea. Here's a video of Sweetpea dancing with her friend at the fairy extravaganza! She had lots of fun there doing girly things.

And, just to show how weird this weather is, here's a picture of Sweetpea with the snowman that her and dad made only a few weeks ago. I am ready for this crazy weather to be done!

In memory of...

We lost another great man recently...my Grandpa Evans. It is sad to say that Sweetpea now has no living great-grandpa's, but I do find comfort in knowing that my Grandpa Evans is in heaven now with my Grandma. He absolutely adored her and missed her terribly when she died, so at least he is happy with her now. We will miss his great big hugs and his kind words - we love you, Grandpa!
